My shadow follows me wherever I go,
A faithful companion, a friend, or foe,
It dances with me, in the morning light,
And fades away, as the sun takes flight.

It grows and shrinks, as I move around,
A distorted figure, on the solid ground,
It mimics my movements, without a sound,
And disappears, when I'm no longer around.

Sometimes it's long, stretching far and wide,
Other times, it's short, by my side,
It's shapeless, yet it takes on my form,
A reflection of me, in a way that's warm.

But there are days, when my shadow's gone,
Leaving me bare, in the harsh sun,
And I miss its presence, its silent hum,
The comfort it brings, when the day's done.

For my shadow's more than just a shape,
It's a part of me, in this endless landscape,
And I'll welcome it back, with open arms,
A constant reminder, of life's endless charms.
